The market for super ultrawide monitors has become more exciting with Acer's upcoming release of the huge Predator Z57 gaming monitor. It will be priced at $1,999 in the US through their online store.

The Acer Predator Z57 offers a variety of impressive features. With a 57-inch screen and a resolution of 7680×2160, it also includes MiniLED backlighting with 2,304 zones, HDR 1000, and 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Additionally, it has a built-in KVM switch.

The monitor features a VA panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 1000R curvature. While the refresh rate may not be the highest, it's important to remember that this is a dual-4K setup. Achieving 120 frames per second in modern demanding games at that resolution may be challenging, even with a top-of-the-line RTX 4090 graphics card.

The connectivity options, along with the KVM switch mentioned, are satisfactory. However, it's important to note that DisplayPort 2.1 support is missing. The device provides two HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4, and four USB 10GB/s downstream ports, with one type-C port that supports 90W power delivery. Additionally, it features 10W speakers.

I would love to have a monitor like this one, but it would require me to upgrade my desk, room, and possibly even my house to accommodate it. This monitor would be ideal for a racing simulator setup, as well as for general everyday use. Despite having a single 4K monitor for working from home, I often face limitations when juggling multiple tasks like having several browser tabs open, working on a spreadsheet, chatting on Slack, and checking emails at the same time. This new monitor would solve those issues and more.

The Predator Z57 is being considered for the top gaming monitors list, competing against the impressive Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC. While the Samsung model costs $2,499, the Predator Z57 is $500 less, giving Acer's contender an advantage in terms of affordability.

It's also competing with some impressive 49-inch OLED options, though they may not offer the same high pixel density as the Z57. While OLED monitors have attractive features, if you're looking for a display with an abundance of pixels, the Z57 is definitely worth considering. We look forward to reviewing it soon.
